Tunable Filters
A tunable filter adjusts its frequency response through control or configuration. Yi-Chip offers 11 RF band-pass and high-pass/low-pass models. Compare nominal frequency ranges, typical insertion loss and package dimensions below.
Start with the target band and choose a tuning architecture
Band-pass tunable filters select the target passband; high-pass/low-pass tunable filters combine high-pass and low-pass functions to meet frequency-selection needs. This page lists 6 band-pass and 5 high-pass/low-pass models. See the table below for each model's frequency range, insertion loss, power consumption and dimensions.
The filter family collectively covers 30MHz to 40GHz; this does not mean that a single device continuously covers the entire range. Review nominal frequency range, electrical characteristic conditions, fractional bandwidth and package constraints when selecting a device.

Selection Notes
30MHz to 40GHz is the combined coverage of the filter family; power consumption <1mW applies only to the filters in this table. Insertion loss is a typical selection value that varies with frequency, bandwidth and configuration. Dimensions are body length × width.
The 7dB typical insertion loss of SYRF8818HL applies at 25% fractional bandwidth. The table uses nominal frequency bands for SYRF8119 and SYRF8913; the original datasheet electrical characteristics tables specify 1–2.85GHz and 6.5–12.3GHz, respectively.
Pin-to-Pin compatibility for SYRF8052, SYRF8513 and SYRF8526 is limited to the package and primary functional pins; some functions and pin functions differ. A comparison reference does not imply Pin-to-Pin compatibility. Refer to the applicable conditions on each product page when selecting a device.
How do I select a tunable filter?
Read the Full Selection Guide: Frequency Range, Bandwidth and Insertion-Loss Conditions
First define the signal frequency range and passband requirements
Specify the operating frequencies, required signal bandwidth, and out-of-band signals to suppress. Narrow down models using the published frequency bands, then check the corresponding electrical conditions. Do not select a device solely from the combined coverage of the series.
Then Check Insertion Loss, Dimensions and Interface Conditions
Insertion loss is a typical value dependent on frequency, bandwidth and configuration. Review the documentation against your link budget, PCB space, supply and control requirements. For compatible models, compare the package and functional pins individually.
Validate the device in your system
Frequency-selection requirements differ across receiver front ends, communications and test instruments. Website specifications support preliminary screening; the final device combination, linearity, out-of-band performance and suitability must be checked against the specific design conditions and verified by testing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a tunable filter, and how does it differ from a fixed filter?
A tunable filter can change its frequency response through control or configuration to meet different frequency-selection needs; a fixed filter typically serves a predefined passband. Adjustable frequencies, bandwidths and control methods vary by device. Check each item when selecting a model; the word "tunable" alone does not establish suitability.
Are RF tunable filters and optical tunable filters the same type of product?
They handle different signals. RF filters select frequencies in electrical RF signals; optical filters select wavelengths in optical signals. This page covers Yi-Chip RF band-pass and high-pass/low-pass tunable filters. Select models according to the RF system frequency band and electrical conditions; similar names do not make these devices interchangeable.
How Should I Choose Between Band-Pass and High-Pass/Low-Pass Tunable Filters?
Compare band-pass models when a passband is needed around the target signal. Compare high-pass/low-pass models when frequency selection requires combined high-pass and low-pass functions. For both types, verify the target frequency range, passband requirements, insertion loss, package and control conditions. This table supports initial screening; final selection requires device-specific documentation and system testing.
Does 30MHz to 40GHz represent continuous coverage by a single filter?
No. This is the combined nominal frequency coverage of different models in the series. Refer to the frequency range, electrical characteristics and bandwidth conditions of the specific model you need.
Does power consumption below 1mW apply to all RF products?
No. The published power consumption of less than 1mW on this page applies only to the filters in the table, not to RF switches, attenuators, or other products.
Can a Referenced Comparison Model Be Replaced Directly?
A benchmark counterpart does not imply Pin-to-Pin compatibility. Some models labeled Pin-to-Pin compatible also have functional and pin differences; check the applicable conditions on the corresponding product page.
How can I obtain more detailed technical documentation?
Use the inquiry link on a product page to include its part number, or describe your company or project background, target frequency range, bandwidth, supply and control requirements on the Contact Us page. Full datasheets and project materials are provided through discussion of your specific needs.
